Acting Executive Director

Ingrid Aspelund is the Acting Executive Director at the European Wergeland Centre. Her usual position is Deputy Director and Head of the Youth Section, responsible for EWCs work to strengthen young people’s confidence and trust in shared values and democratic institutions. Her areas of experience and expertise is youth participation, democratic resilience, and prevention of hate and extremism. Since 2016 she has been responsible for EWCs cooperation with Utøya and the 22 July Center, to develop a national and international learning program after the terrorist attacks 22 July 2011.

Aspelund has a Master’s degree in International and Multicultural Education and a Bachelor's degree in Development Studies from Oslo and Akershus University College (now Oslo Met). She previously worked as a campaign advisor for the No Hate Speech Movement in Norway and was the head of Norwegian People’s Aid Solidarity Youth 2015-2017.
