In 2019 EWC received a Certificate of appreciation in recognition of the long-lasting partnership, dedication and support in implementing educational reforms in the “New Ukrainian School”. The Ministry of Education and Science, who is a partner in “Schools for Democracy” program, also honored other donors supporting educational reforms in the country.
When outlining some of the pressing problems of the Ukrainian educational system, the Minister of Education and Science Lilia Hrynevych, called for continued support in the transition to competence-based learning. Highlighting the value of civic and social competences, the minister emphasized the importance of students acquiring practical experience particularly with the local community and non-governmental organizations, through volunteering and social projects.
Many of the identified challenges and upcoming plans are already part of the Schools for Democracy priorities, we look forward to continuing our work and assist with the implementation of Ukraine’s extensive educational reforms.
